Unit10collective presents:

EINE GROSSE FUNF

Thursday 21 July @ The CAMP, London

Unit 10 is a spacious and charismatic warehouse studio run by an international collective of artists.

In 2008 the Unit 10 Collective was founded as a community within this studio.

All exhibiting artists share the space as their artistic and spiritual home, along with a constant creative and personal exchange, based on a mutual passion for the Unit 10 warehouse.
Unit 10 is comprised of artists hailing from differing art disciplines and from various cultural backgrounds. The influence they have on each others work is never obvious but always subtly present.

Artworks featured in this exhibition, have been created in mediums ranging from photography, sculpture, paintings and film.

The exhibitions underlying structure is the experience of inhabiting the Unit 10 warehouse space, yet it is up to the observer to read the nature of this in each individual work.
Exhibiting artists:

David Altweger,
Mira Loew
Guillaume Cornet,
Hal Xe
Gautier D`huy,

Initially a graphic designer, DAVID ALTWEGER engages in film, animation and motion graphics. He currently works as a film-maker, director of music videos and VJ in both London and Vienna. Together with Mira Loew and Belen Zahera he hosts Salon Flux, a bi-monthly art event dedicated to experimental film, visual arts and music (www.salonflux.com).

MIRA LOEW is a trained photographer and video-artist. In her recent work she explores the correlations between photography and performance. Working with her own body as well as performers and dancers, she understands the movement of the body as a means of expression. The photographic material of her choice is increasingly grainy analogue films, which allows Mira to make the materiality, the textures and surfaces of the photographic medium as much a subject matter as her bodies.

MR.GUIL‘s painting combine a mix of abstract geometry and architecture with surreal perspectives, mainly using colours to separate shapes one from another. His illustrations tend to be filled with creatures posing in uncomfortable positions with inaccurate proportions. He uses creatures and machines to represent weird situations and communicate emotions.

GAUTIER D’HUY works with graphic design and painting. He is particularly interested in typography and the aesthetics of old industrial logos and advertising. The influences come from various mediums; Werner Herzog’s filmography, detroit techno music, artists like Ed Ruscha, or the Norman Wilkinson’s dazzle-camouflages and war imagery in general are often in his mind. Sometimes, if he’s not working in his private laboratory, he goes outside and write random words on walls.

Painter, illustrator and recently awaken metalworker HAL XE is creating images using a self-developed and recurring system of signs. Through his work he creates mysterious sci-fi-pagan iconography. His style expresses a dazzled order, partly raw and plain as well as meticulously intricate , elaborating different depths of understanding and aesthetics.
